In a recent announcement by Pokémon Japan, the latest Generation of the Pokémon RPG will be released in 2010.

The announce ment says:
Pocket Monsters's completely new series is in development for release later this year 2010!

lalalala new animes but the most important thing is a new generation of consoles!!! Who'd want it on the same console? I mean, commercially.They'd have to have new mechanics or even Gen V would seem like an expansion pack. Gen V should also lead to R/S remakes. And a remake just on the next generation of consoles won't be logical.

OK but I too think that there should be battle frontier or at least Elite Four (or Four heavenly kings as they are said) season. At least I expected.

But gen 5 sounds more interesting.

We are going to miss her as we do for Misty and May. May misty return in gen 5 anime.. Hey that sounds good, dont this?
But yeah they will have to promote their new character so they wont make Misty appear.

The DS has a much larger installed-base than the TBA DS2. Naturally, the game would find more buyers that way.

But I agree with Abhi. Because, see. If they air Generation 5 games on a new consol say DS2, then some true fans (we are also true but we arent allowed to buy so frequesntly. At least I am not! ) would buy new consol only for new generation. So, that would increase their sales, wont it?

The DS didn't sell because of Pokémon. It sold thanks to New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Phantom Hourglass, etc. to name a few.
Most Pokémon fans would buy the DS even if there were no Pokémon games on the console.

Still I think launching a pokegame with a new colsole would increase sales than launching on existing one. Btw do you have a DS?

Yes, I do. Also Pokemon isn't developed under the direct supervision of Nintendo themselves, so, a new console means that Game Freak needs to more time to work on the said game as they need to figure out the development from scratch. So, it isn't till later in the console's lifetime that the game sees the light of day, which makes it no longer feasible as a "launch title" or one that enhances sales for the system. Besides, it's not like we won't have a Pokémon game for the DS2. It's probably going to shorten the life span of Generation V (challenging even Generation II) if anything at all.

We'll probably get a Crystal-like gen V game built for DS2 only.
(it could even have a DS XL version, and the heroes could get a large iPad-ish Pokedex in the next season )

I was thinking what tan is saying but then prongs is proving us wrong ! It wouldn't matter either way, a whole new region to understand, movesets, what the pokemon is called, evolutions. It's going to be like when sinnoh came out, constantly on the net seeking info from every destination!
