As we have seen in the previous Nintendo Direct on Pokémon the Kanto starters are going to be given to us in X and Y by professor in the beginning itself while we get the Kalos starters from our friend. The three Kanto starters have been awarded with Mega Evolution too.

Lets discuss what there could be for giving us the Kanto starters in the beginning itself and they also Mege Evolve.

In my opinion the the professor got the three Kanto starters from Prof. Oak to research on Mega Evolution and are given to us to make them Mega Evolve.
The Mega Venusaur doesn't have much changes from its normal form, but looks a power absorber. But Mega Charizard is more Dragon like than Dragon type Pokémon even more than when it was in normal form. The Mega Blastoise looks really awesome with the "Bazooka" on its back, it has got some real strenght now I think.
I also feel that all the starters are going to have Mega Evolutions as at the time of revealing Mega Evolutions Blaziken has been featured Mega Evolving. Lets see what happens.

Player can also recieve starters in Heart gold and Soul Silver but that Mega evolution feature makes them intresting.If I got XY I will choose Charizard cause its very cool in its mega form.

I will choose either Bulbasaur or Charmender. In my SS I have Blaziken,Typhlosion and Charizard. 3 Fire types
